Home Renovation project Fall 2013

We are in the process a never ending home renovation project.  Never. ending.  We started planning and contacting people about this project in January and here we sit in the middle of September.  The big parts are done but it's the smaller stuff that is taking forever.  Painting a room, or should i say rooms from scratch is no joke.  Luckily, Matt has painting in his genes passed down from the Meyer side but his perfectionist ways keep this project going. There have been many helpers in this project and believe me we are thankful because without the help, we may have lost our minds by now. Oh wait, we did anyway.  But you know what I mean.  You know what they say, it takes a village to complete a home reno project :-)

I mean I really shouldn't complain because I have done none of the hard labor this project requires but the young sales guy at CarpetOne does knows me as the crazy pregnant lady who can't make up her mind about the damn  carpet already.  And I watch and entertain the kids (again, with help) so that our they stay out of the way and we don't end up with painted footprints all over the house.

So hopefully this project will be done before this next baby arrives.  We have some more room moves before then but it will all be worth it in the end.

In the mean time, I want to share a few Adrienneisms:

Summer 2013

I know what you're thinking...that I've given up on the blog.  But I'm back.  See, the problem is that our weekends are busy busy busy and the evenings during the week are for laying on the couch (obviously).  That doesn't leave much time for the genius that goes into writing and maintaining a blog,  Especially one as genius as this one.    So I'm attempting a new strategy and that is to write shorter blogs, more often.   This way, I'm not pressured to spin you an enchanting tale every time I want to really just share a quick thought or a picture.

So here's a quick blurb about our summer:

We had a fantastic summer.  Lots of playing with neighborhood kids, Ghost in the Graveyard, pool time, lake time, trips to the water park, concerts, Camp Sisol and of course the pinnacle of our summer, a week at Dewey Beach.  Here are some pics of our fun:

We're having a lovely winter this spring

Here we are at the end of April when all we want to do is enjoy some time outside and it goes and snows.   We saw flurries yesterday which is not unacceptable!  Today, the sun is out but it. is. deceiving.  It is not warm and one should not have to wear a 3/4 length down parka outside in April.  The only reason why I really even went outside was to play with my new camera using natural light.  I got a few cute pics of Luke and Ade and they are just looking so grown up these days.

And this next one was supposed to be a nice Easter picture and look how it turned out!

 

Bed Time Antics

We are still waiting for that golden time when we put the kids to bed, they stay there, they sleep, and they wake up a reasonable time in the morning.  If they only knew how much they will miss sleep when they are older, maybe they would take advantage of it now.  If they only knew how awesome it is to be ordered to sleep, mid day, with reward and without consequence, they would take advantage of it now.  If they only knew, wait, I just lost my train of thought because I had to run upstairs and put Ade back in her bed for the third time so far tonight.  Seriously.  Notice how I said "so far" in that last sentence.  Our night time routine goes a little like this:

Dad reads girl minimum of three books and puts her in bed and sits in rocker in room.
Mom reads boy multiple books and lays with him in his bed.
Dad leaves girl's room and goes down stairs to study on couch.
Mom falls asleep waiting for boy to fall asleep.
Dad wakes mom to come out of boy's room.
Mom and dad have a few peaceful moments of mindless tv watching.
Girl gets out of bed first time.
Dad puts girl back in bed and retreats back down stairs.
Girl throws sippy cup out of bed, making loud noise and gets out of bed a second time.
Dad puts girl back in bed and retreats down stairs.
Girl starts singing very loudly.
Girl gets out of bed a third time.
Dad demands that mom put girl back to bed this time.
Mom puts girl back in bed and spouts a few empty threats and retreats back downstairs.
Girl continues singing loudly.
Mom falls asleep on couch watching tv.
Dad stays up late watching tv.
Mom and dad eventually go up to bed.
Girl wakes up and walks in mom and dad's room.
Mom puts girl back in bed and lays in bed with her.
Mom falls asleep in awkward position in girl's bed and wakes an hour later to return to her own bed.
One hour passes and boy wakes up.
Boy gets in bed with mom and dad, steals covers and breaths in mom's face.
Mom is squished and wakes an hour later to tell dad to move over.
Dad goes to sleep in boy's room.
Boy and girl wake at 5:45 am and demand immediate entertainment.

That's about it.  About 4 out of 7 days per week.  We are hoping the time changes helps our cause even thought it's not likely to.  Boo.
