Summer 2021

Summer 2021 felt pretty normal for us.  With all of us who were eligible being vaccinated, we felt much more comfortable gathering with others this summer.

We were on the road quite a bit for lacrosse tournaments.  Both Luke and Adrienne spent the first half of the summer, pretty much on the lax fields.  There were many steamy trips to the mid-Atlantic region with Matt and I each taking one kid most weekends. Sometimes we'd even be in the same state but not able to see both kids play.   Adrienne's team won every single tournament they played in so there were lots of trophies, medals and tournament t-shirts to be had.

Luke's team also won most of their tournaments - which was a huge improvement from years past.  One of his team's championship game was even played in the Naval Academy stadium and televised live on ESPN 3.  He was able to make it on the big screen for one really great save and with enough time for the announcers to comment on his hair, or " great flow" as they referred to it.

And then about a week after his television debut, Luke was playing in a lax showcase and took a hard shot straight to the thumb and voila, an 8 week break from lacrosse.  2 casts, surgery, 2 pins and 300 appointments later, he's now as good as new with the added bonus of some gnarly scars on his thumb.

All the while, Coco was living her best life spending lots of time at G-ma and G-pa's house, Mimi's house and at the lake.

We celebrated Matt's 40th birthday at the lake with lots of family and a few visits to some wineries.  Andy made him a birthday shirt as only Andy can do.  After weeks of being on the road, he was happy to stay in one spot.

We closed out the summer with another great trip to Dewey Beach.  I'm so grateful we have found such an amazing tradition by which to create such fond memories.  As always, we truly make these summer days count but they just go by much too fast.
